Last Sunday ushered in a new moon in Leo, the fixed fire sign of the season. Leo is a sign which fosters courage and easily stirs up drama, so be mindful of which end of the continuum you gravitate toward. Be aware of the distinction between being your unique self and seeking attention from others: are you making decisions to stroke your ego or to serve your higher self?
If you are honest, then the answer to the above question is both. We all feel shaky at times and question our self-worth. Part of being human is figuring out how to feel good about ourselves without hiding behind a mask composed of other people’s expectations.
When our focus is on how other’s view us, then we are more likely to make decisions designed to impress. The alternative is to make decisions that fuel our deepest desires and support the values we hold dear. When we come from a place of such authenticity, a sense of peace washes over us, even if the decision was challenging or painful. There is serenity in knowing your decision aligned with your integrity.
To make choices that nurture self-acceptance, self-expression and self-love is to be in alignment with your deepest desires and closely held values. When you embrace what you know to be true for you, you are doing “the right thing.”
And guess what? The right thing today may not be the right thing of tomorrow. Acknowledge that as you grow and life circumstances change so too will your decisions. What was right for you last decade, last year, last week may not reflect where you are now. Give up the idea that you are static and allow yourself to move with the flow of life’s current.
I have often changed my mind, even radically so. As you may imagine, reversing a previous decision takes courage. As you may also imagine, staying in the same place for fear of disappointing or being rejected by someone sucks. I suggest finding your courage and making the change. It beats being stuck and feeling miserable. Now, where is the self-acceptance, self-expression, and self-love in that? (That’s right. There is none.)
As you move into this new moon cycle with partial lunar and total solar eclipses (eclipses = rapid growth), connect with your innate courage (yes, you have it) and acknowledge your deepest heart’s desire (yes, you know it). Make one tiny change and see what happens. Tis the season…
